Christian Association of Nigeria elects Samson Ayokunle as its new president

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has elected Reverend Samson Olasupo Ayokunle as its new president.The election was conducted at the National Ecumenical Center, Abuja yesterday, one day behind the scheduled date.THISDAY reports that the election took place in an attempt to avoid alleged federal government intrusion.

At the poll, Ayokunle defeated his rival, Joseph Otubu of the Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Movement, MCCSW, with 54 votes to 28. Rev. Ayokunle is the current national president of Nigerian Baptist Convention and takes over the CAN leadership from Ayo Oritsejafor.
