A video appearing to show the Nigerian schoolgirls
kidnapped by Islamist group Boko Haram has emerged - two years after they were
taken captive. The footage shows 15 girls in black robes identifying
themselves as the pupils abducted from school.
The girls were filmed saying they were being treated well
but wanted to go home and be with their families. It is reported to have been made in December and sent to
the Nigerian government as "proof of life" during negotiations. It is the first time the girls have been seen since a
video in May 2014.The mass abduction of 279 schoolgirls on April 14th 2014
sparked a global outcry and led to the #BringBackOurGirls campaign, which was backed by US First
Lady Michelle Obama.Dozens of the girls managed to escape but 219 remain
missing.
The Nigerian authorities' failure to find and rescue them
has attracted worldwide condemnation.CNN showed the video to mothers of the girls, with some
recognising their daughters.
