Nigerian Military repels Boko Haram attacks in Gombi



Nigerian soldiers yesterday repelled an attack by gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram on Gombi Town of Adamawa State,North East Nigeria.
A resident, Gambo Mohammed, told PREMIUM TIMES that “The men came in from Zangula Village through the road by the side of Government Girls College at about 5:30 p.m. in  a motorcade  and started shooting which sent many residents scrambling for safety as the shooting continued for over two hours.
Sources also reports that soldiers confronted the gunmen in a shootout and chased them from the village.
The acting chairman of the council, Japhet Kefas, also confirmed that the soldiers confronted the gunmen.“The insurgents were in my council headquarters and am in Yola, so l cannot say much about it,” he said “But report reaching me says that the army is chasing them and has taken over all  the route into and out of Gombi”
The casualty from the attack is yet to be ascertained. The defence headquarters is also  yet to release a statement on the attack.
